Kellie is a PhD candidate researching yeast sugar transport and metabolic engineering for second generation biofuel production. Her work combines bioinformatics, molecular biology and genetic engineering to investigate how yeast transport glucose and xylose, with the aim of improving sugar co-consumption for more efficient lignocellulosic biofuel production. Outside the lab, Kellie is an avid surfer, photographer and enjoys exploring the Australian outdoors with her two children.
