PhD student
Turku Bioscience Centre - University of Turku

I am a PhD student in Prof. Laura Elo´s group at the Medical Bioinformatics Centre, Turku Bioscience, University of Turku, supervised by Prof. Laura Elo and Dr. Sini Juntilla. My doctoral research bridges bioinformatics and immunology, focusing on optimising and applying statistical methods for the integration and marker identification of single-cell data, with a particular interest in the mechanisms underlying autoimmune side effects in cancer patients undergoing checkpoint immunotherapy. I hold a background in cell and molecular biology, having begun my research career with a master´s project on the Arctic marine microbiome beneath drifting sea ice at the EcoBioTec lab, CIIMAR – University of Porto. I subsequently worked as a project researcher at EcoBioTec and as a bioinformatician at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência core facility until mid-2021.
